This new disease popularly known as Coronavirus (Covid-19) is spreading fast and creating panic situation all around the world. More than 3,300 deaths has been recorded worldwide.

Coronaviruses are a family of virus that causes disease in animals. The symptoms are just like normal common cold. But, more dangerous than normal cold virus.

Pandemic disease is:

  • A disease that spreads rapidly
  • No medicine has been created for such disease
  • Human body has not developed immunity for such disease

Symptoms of Coronavirus

As per WHO, the symptoms include –

  1. High temperature
  2. Dry cough
  3. Tiredness
  4. Shortness of breath (In severe cases only)
  5. Runny nose
  6. Sore throat

The symptoms are similar to common cold.

How soon does the symptom occur?

Symptoms can start showing between two to ten days after comming in contact with the virus. The symptoms could also take upto 24 days to show.

Generally, the people get affected with coronavirus recover without any special treatment. But in some cases patients start having difficulty in breating, which is a severe case.

Myths related to Cornavirus (COVID-19)

Myth 1: Thermal scanners are effective in detecting corona-virus fever.

Fact: Thermal scanners can not detect infected people because it take approx. 2 to 10 days for the corona virus infected people to show a symptom of fever

Myth 2: Ultraviolet disinfection lamp kills the new coronavirus

Fact: UV lamps should not be used to disinfect hands or skin. UV radiation causes skin irritation.

Myth 3: Hand Dryers are effcetive in killing coronavirus?

Fact: No hand dryers do not kill the coronavirus. You need to wash your hand with soap and water or sanitize your hand with alcohol based sanitizer.

Myth 4: The new coronavirus cannot be transmitted through mosquito bites

Fact: Till now there is no evidence or information on corona virus being transmitted through mosquito bites.

How to cure corona virus? What precautions should you take?

Currently, there is no vaccine for this diesase. This does not mean that the disease is incurable. China has already started recovering.

  3. Carry a tissue with you and use it when you sneeze or cough. Throw the tissue in a closed bin
  4. Avoid shaking hands
  5. Avoid sharing food, clothes, towels with others
